A great deal of research went into sourcing the best quality paper, and best fade-resistant inks in order to create these photographic prints. The paper is a substantial 190gsm watercolour stock produced by a mill in Somerset here in the UK. It has a wonderful traditional feel and texture, giving both excellent colour saturation and definition. Each image measures 30 cms x 30 cms on a 48 cms x 33 cms sheet, (that's approx 19" x 13", which is larger than A3) and is despatched securely in a strong cardboard poster tube.
The cost per print is £30.00 + £2.50 for (worldwide) postage and packing, with secure online ordering via Paypal. 10% from the sale of all prints is donated directly to the Venice in Peril fund. When ordering, please state clearly which print you require in Paypal's 'special instructions to merchant' box.

This original painting in gouache and ink was so popular that I decided to issue
a print run of 500 copies. The print measures approx 26" x 20" and is printed on very good quality art paper, with each print individually numbered.
The actor/writer/comedian Stephen Fry describes himself as the 'proud owner'
of one of them. There are now less than 200 of the edition remaining.
The price per print, including Free p. + p. within the UK, is just £30.00.

San Leo Bastia - Italy.
Original painting in gouache and ink.
SOLD (private collection).
La Castagna (Cortona, Italy).
In case anyone should ever try to find this building in Cortona, it was actually a gift shop which I decided to transform into a restaurant called La Castagna.
I also changed the street name to one that had fewer letters in it to paint!
Last of the cherry blossom (Paris).
Florian's legendary cafe in St Mark's Square, Venice, is my latest painting. It took over 8 months to create, and given that I didn't work on it every day, I would say that it represents at least six month's work.
It is painted using gouache, with detailing in ink.
It is double mounted in antique white in a frame which manages to capture all the shades and patina of the painting. The overall size is: 33 inches x 27 inches.

I was commissioned by the composer Ambrose Field, and the tenor John Potter (formerly of the Hilliard Ensemble) to create a series of films and visuals to be used at live performances of Ambrose's piece 'Being Dufay'.
It was a fascinating project, and there have now been performances all over the world; from its premiere at the Vienna Konzerthaus, to the Perth International Arts Festival (Western Australia). You can find out much more about this exciting musical work (including upcoming performances) at www.beingdufay.com Here is a selection of edited sections of some of the films, along with a live recording of the track 'Ma belle dame souveraine' taken from the performance at the Astor in Perth. I am currently working on the follow-up project.
" ...Being Dufay is a wonderful collaboration! Excellent work, the video is splendid! We really like the dark colors and atmospheres, the sense of peace and suspension and that certain ancient religious mood it transmits. Beautiful! Let us know when the new work is ready, we'll surely write about it!!"

"...a stunning tour-de-force....with a video projection that was
as organic and original as the score."
- Chicago Classical Review.
" Live soundtracks for brilliant fims."
- Perth International Arts Festival (Australia).
"Michael Lynch creates films with the highest degree of artistic
integrity. The visual concepts are original in their own right, yet
are a beautiful counterpart to my musical compositions."
- Ambrose Field, composer.
A tradition of the Newark School of Violin Making (based at Newark College here in the UK) is to have teams of four students competing against each other at the end of term, to make an instrument (a violin in white usually or a guitar),
in just 24 hours.
This is divided into three 8 hour days.
Two former students, Steffi and Joerg Koplin decided to get together with two friends and attempt to make a viola in just 24 hours.
They were not competing against any other team, but against time itself.
Obviously, this is not the way an instrument would normally be crafted!
